Overnight cost

Economic Measure

Overnight cost is the cost of building a project, such as a power plant, if no interest had to be paid during construction, as though the whole project were completed instantly, overnight. It is used to give a simple way of comparing the cost of different power plant projects or technologies, expressed as a ratio against the maximum power the finished plant can deliver.
