Mike Alexander

Michael Richard Alexander, born November 17, 1947, is a British engineer and businessman who served as chief executive of British Energy, then the United Kingdom's largest electricity producer, from March 2003 to March 2005. He joined BP in 1966 and later moved to British Gas in 1991, serving as managing director of Public Gas Supply from 1993 to 1996 and of British Gas overall from 1996 to 2001, and briefly served as chief operating officer of Centrica in early 2002. He holds a first-class degree in chemical engineering and a master's degree in control engineering from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology.
