Georges Leclanche was a French electrical engineer chiefly remembered for his invention of the Leclanche cell, one of the first modern electrical batteries. His design became the direct forerunner of the modern dry cell battery, carrying his original electrochemical approach into the dry cell technology that would be manufactured and used throughout the following century.
