Thermal Energy Storage

Systems that keep heat or cold for later use, including hot water and molten salt tanks, phase-change materials, thermochemical stores and Carnot batteries that turn electricity into heat and back. A technology belongs here when its cited article describes storing thermal energy. It excludes electrochemical batteries and mechanical stores. Thermal stores keep energy as heat or cold in materials such as water, molten salt or phase-change compounds, and release it later for heating, cooling or power. A technology is placed here by the thermal storage approach the cited article describes.
