The Ljungstrom turbine is a steam turbine also known as the STAL turbine, named for its manufacturer, Svenska Turbinfabriks Aktiebolaget Ljungstrom (STAL). Since its invention the design has been used in a wide range of applications, from power plants to large vessels, including the supertanker Seawise Giant.
