Vittorio Cini

Vittorio Cini, Count of Monselice (1885 to 1977), was an Italian industrialist active across finance, steel, shipping, tourism, insurance and the electricity industry. From 1924 to 1943 he sat on the board of directors of SADE, the Societa Adriatica di Elettricita, a major hydroelectric power company operating in northeastern Italy, and in 1953, after the death of SADE president Achille Gaggia, Cini himself became president of the company, a position he held until SADE was absorbed into the chemical group Montecatini in 1966. SADE was nationalized by the Italian state in 1962 and 1963 as electricity supply was brought under public ownership. Cini also served as a Fascist era senator from 1934 to 1943 and briefly as the Kingdom of Italy's minister of communications in 1943, and he was among the wealthiest people in Italy of his time.
