Kouris Centri Turbine

The Kouris Centri Turbine, or KCT, is a gravitation water vortex turbine that generates power from the rotational kinetic energy of a spinning body of water, in contrast to the linear kinetic energy that conventional hydroelectric turbines draw from water moving in a straight line through a channel or penstock. Like other gravitation water vortex designs, it forms part of a small family of low-head hydropower technologies aimed at extracting energy from modest water flows without the large dams and heads that conventional hydroelectric turbines require.
