Tidal Power

Tidal power, or tidal energy, is harnessed by converting the energy of ocean tides into useful forms of power, mainly electricity, using a variety of methods. Tides are more predictable than wind or sunlight, which gives tidal energy a reliability advantage among renewable sources, although it is not yet widely used. Tidal energy has traditionally suffered from relatively high cost and from a limited number of sites with tidal ranges or flow velocities high enough to make it worthwhile, which has constrained how much of it has been built.
