Oscillating Wave Surge Converter

Marine Conversion

An oscillating wave surge converter is a wave energy device with one end fixed to a structure or the seabed while the other end, typically a float, flap or membrane, is free to move. It extracts energy from the relative motion of the moving body compared to its fixed point, harnessing the horizontal surge motion of waves near the shore. This distinguishes it from a point absorber, which floats freely on the surface and captures vertical bobbing motion, and from an attenuator, which uses multiple floating segments connected in a line and harnesses flexing motion along its length.
