Alf Bjørseth

Alf Bjørseth, born 24 November 1941, is a Norwegian chemist and businessman regarded as a pioneer of the modern solar industry. He served as director of technology at the industrial group Elkem from 1990 to 1994, and in 1994 he founded the silicon-wafer company ScanWafer, which grew into Renewable Energy Corporation (REC), one of the world's largest solar manufacturers. He went on to found the renewable-energy company Scatec, extending his career from materials research into large-scale commercial solar power.
