Energy transformation, also called energy conversion, is the process of changing energy from one form into another. In physics, energy is the capacity to do work, such as lifting an object, or to provide heat, and a basic principle holds that energy can change form or move from one place, object or living thing to another but can never be created or destroyed. A common everyday example is fire, which converts chemical energy stored in a fuel into heat and light.
