Induction Regulator

Grid Equipment

An induction regulator is an alternating-current electrical machine, similar in construction to an induction motor, that can provide a continuously variable output voltage. It was an early device for controlling the voltage of electric networks, and since the 1930s has largely been replaced in distribution-network applications by the tap transformer, with its remaining use mostly confined to electrical laboratories, electrochemical processes and arc welding; with minor variations its setup can also serve as a phase-shifting power transformer.
