All Water Electrolysis

Ways of splitting water into hydrogen and oxygen with electric current, including alkaline, proton exchange membrane and solid oxide electrolysis. A technology belongs here when its cited article describes electrolysis of water or an electrolyzer. In each of these the electric current drives the water splitting reaction, and the designs differ in the electrolyte and cell that carry it out, which is why an alkaline, membrane or solid oxide cell is placed here by the cited article rather than by the type of power supplying it.

Wikipedia: Proton exchange membrane electrolysis
  • Has Member: PEM Electrolysis, Lead
Proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolysis is the electrolysis of water in a cell equipped with a solid polymer electrolyte (SPE) that is responsible for the conduction of protons, separation of product gases, and electrical insulation of the electrodes.

  • Has Member: Solid Oxide Electrolyzer Cell, Lead
A solid oxide electrolyzer cell (SOEC) is a solid oxide fuel cell that runs in regenerative mode to achieve the electrolysis of water (and/or carbon dioxide) by using a solid oxide, or ceramic, electrolyte to produce hydrogen gas (and/or carbon monoxide) and oxygen.

High-pressure electrolysis - Wikipedia
Has Member: High-Pressure Electrolysis, Lead
Quote, Has Member: High-Pressure Electrolysis, Lead
High-pressure electrolysis (HPE) is the electrolysis of water by decomposition of water (H2O) into oxygen (O2) and hydrogen gas (H2) due to the passing of an electric current through the water.
