Pavagada Solar Park Project

The Pavagada Solar Park Project, also known as Shakti Sthala, was built on drought-prone farmland in Karnataka's Tumkur district under a public-private structure in which farmers leased their land to a state-government-backed special purpose vehicle for a fixed annual payment rather than selling it outright. Construction ran from 2015 to 2019, drawing multiple private developers onto shared park infrastructure in the same aggregation model used at Bhadla. The project was presented as a model for balancing large-scale renewable development with continued income for local landowners in a region where farming had become increasingly unreliable due to recurring drought.
