Walney Extension Wind Farm Project

The Walney Extension Wind Farm Project extended the earlier Walney offshore wind farm in the Irish Sea off the Cumbrian coast, developed by Orsted with equity partners including PKA and PFA. Construction ran from 2014 to 2018 and used two different turbine models supplied by MHI Vestas and Siemens Gamesa across its two sub-arrays. On completion in 2018 it briefly held the title of the world's largest operating offshore wind farm, a distinction it held only until London Array-era records were surpassed by the first phase of the Hornsea program the following year.
