The Bhadla Solar Park Project was developed on barren desert land in Rajasthan's Jodhpur district under a joint venture between the Rajasthan state government and the central Solar Energy Corporation of India, part of India's national push to expand utility-scale solar generation. Built in phases between 2015 and 2020, the park hosts installations from multiple independent developers connected to shared transmission infrastructure, an aggregation model used across several of India's largest solar parks. Its location, chosen for high solar irradiance and minimal competing land use, made it one of the largest single solar developments anywhere by the time its final phase was commissioned.
