Alta Wind Energy Center Project

The Alta Wind Energy Center Project was developed in the Tehachapi Pass of Kern County, California, by Terra-Gen Power across eleven phases built between 2010 and 2014. Its output is sold under long-term power purchase agreements to Southern California Edison, and the project drew on California's strong wind resource corridor and established transmission access built up over decades of earlier, smaller wind development in the same pass. On completion it was the largest onshore wind farm in the United States, a title later surpassed by larger projects elsewhere in the country.
