Alta Wind Energy Center, also known as the Mojave Wind Farm, is a wind farm in the Tehachapi Pass of Kern County, California, developed by Terra-Gen Power. Built in phases beginning in 2010, it grew to about 600 turbines with a combined capacity of about 1,550 megawatts, and as of 2022 it was the largest wind farm in the United States. Southern California Edison holds a 25 year power purchase agreement for the facility's output, which is projected to cut carbon dioxide emissions by more than 5.2 million metric tons a year.
