Benban Solar Park is a photovoltaic solar power station in Egypt's Western Desert, near the town of Benban in Aswan Governorate, about 650 kilometers south of Cairo. Built across 41 separate plots spanning roughly 37 square kilometers at a cost of about four billion dollars, it was completed in November 2019 with an installed capacity of about 1,800 megawatts and an expected annual output of 3.8 to 4.5 terawatt hours. It ranks among the largest solar power plants in the world, and its scale is such that the installation is visible from space.
