MeyGen is a tidal stream energy project in the Inner Sound of the Pentland Firth, between the island of Stroma and the Scottish mainland. Its first phase began generating power in April 2018 using turbines with 18 meter rotors mounted on the seabed, and by 2025 the project had produced a cumulative 80 gigawatt hours of electricity from an installed capacity of 6 megawatts, with plans to expand toward a total of 400 megawatts. It has been described as the world's largest tidal stream power project.
