Ras Tanura Refinery is an oil refinery on the Persian Gulf coast of Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province, owned and operated by the state oil company Saudi Aramco. It began operating in 1941 as a small facility and was rebuilt with far greater capacity in 1945, growing through later expansions, including a condensate splitter added in 2003, to a capacity of about 550,000 barrels a day. It is Saudi Arabia's largest domestic refinery and, together with its adjoining terminal, one of the country's most important oil export hubs.
