The regional transmission organization that began in 1927, when three utilities formed the world's first continuing power pool, and became the first fully functioning RTO in the United States in 2002. Headquartered near Valley Forge in Audubon, Pennsylvania, PJM coordinates wholesale electricity in all or parts of 13 states and the District of Columbia and manages the high-voltage grid for more than 67 million people.
