Brian C. O'Regan is an American chemist known for the co-invention of dye-sensitized solar cells, the type of thin film photovoltaic device also called Grätzel cells, which he developed in 1988 with Michael Grätzel at the University of California, Berkeley. He became a Research Lecturer at Imperial College London, where during 2007 he conducted research on photovoltaic cells and other applications of nano-structured oxide electronic materials. The dye-sensitized solar cell that he co-invented uses wide band gap oxide semiconductor particles covered with an organic pigment, and it earned Grätzel the 2010 Millennium Technology Prize.
