Emil Kirdorf (1847-1938) was a German industrialist and one of the first major employers in the Ruhr industrial region. In 1937 Adolf Hitler personally awarded him the Order of the German Eagle, Nazi Germany's highest civilian distinction, in recognition of his financial support for the Nazi Party in the late 1920s.
