Mike Cannon-Brookes

Mike Cannon-Brookes, born in 1979, is an Australian technology billionaire and co-founder of the software company Atlassian who has become one of Australia's most prominent private investors in renewable energy. Through his family office, Grok Ventures, founded in 2016, he pledged in October 2021 to donate and invest 1.5 billion dollars in climate projects by 2030. In 2022 he became the largest shareholder of AGL Energy, Australia's largest greenhouse gas emitter, in a campaign to force the company to retire its coal plants faster. That same year he and fellow billionaire Andrew Forrest invested in Sun Cable, a project to build a large solar and battery farm in northern Australia intended to export electricity to Singapore; after the venture was placed into administration, Grok Ventures outbid Forrest in May 2023 to acquire it.
