William Milligan Fraser, 1st Baron Strathalmond, was a Scottish oilman who became one of the most senior figures in twentieth century British oil. He served as the fourth and final chairman of the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company from 1941 to 1954, leading the company through the crisis surrounding the nationalization of Iran's oil industry in the early 1950s, and afterward became the first chairman of the renamed British Petroleum from 1954 to 1956. Fraser was widely regarded as a leading authority on Middle Eastern oil operations, having worked extensively on the company's dealings in Iran, Iraq and Kuwait over several decades.
