Energy Storage Facility

Facilities built to store energy for later release rather than to generate it from a primary source, including the lithium-ion battery at Hornsdale Power Reserve and the pumped-storage stations at Dinorwig and Bath County, which pump water uphill using off-peak power and release it through turbines on demand. Belongs here: a facility whose primary purpose is storing energy already generated elsewhere. Does not belong here: a hydroelectric dam whose primary purpose is generating from river flow, grouped under Hydroelectric Facility.
