Electrostatic Motor

An electrostatic motor, also called a capacitor motor, is a type of electric motor whose operation is based on the attraction and repulsion of electric charge rather than on the magnetic forces that drive an ordinary electromagnetic motor. A distinct variant of the same underlying principle is the electrostatic ion drive thruster used on some spacecraft, which creates its thrust and motion by electrostatically accelerating ions rather than by turning a rotor.
