An organic solar cell, or OSC, also called a plastic solar cell, is a type of photovoltaic that uses organic electronics, conductive organic polymers or small organic molecules, for light absorption and charge transport to produce electricity from sunlight through the photovoltaic effect; most organic photovoltaic cells are polymer solar cells. The molecules used in organic solar cells can be processed from solution at high throughput and are cheap, giving low production costs at large volume, and combined with the flexibility of organic molecules this makes organic solar cells potentially cost-effective for photovoltaic applications.
