Smock Mill

Wind Conversion

The smock mill is a type of windmill built as a sloping tower, usually with six or eight sides, covered in horizontal weatherboarding, thatch or wooden shingles, and topped with a rotating cap or roof that turns to bring the sails into the wind. The design takes its name from its resemblance to the smocks traditionally worn by farmers.
