Xiluodu Dam

Hydroelectric Facility

Xiluodu Dam is a hydroelectric dam on the Jinsha River, the upper course of the Yangtze, on the border of Yunnan and Sichuan provinces in China, operated by China Yangtze Power. Its first generator was commissioned in July 2013 and the last in June 2014, giving the plant 18 Francis turbines and an installed capacity of about 13,860 megawatts, making it the fourth largest power station in the world by capacity. At 285.5 meters high it is among the tallest arch dams ever built, the third tallest of its kind, and it impounds a reservoir of about 12.7 billion cubic meters.
